Meet the Scientist: Andrea Wolff

At XenoTech, we pride ourselves on our 3S Principles – the values and standards that guide our businesses and shape our culture:

  • Service – We serve our stakeholders by creating social, environmental and economic value through responsible business practices.
  • Speed – We accelerate innovation by eagerly taking on new challenges, adapting to change and staying ahead of the times.
  • Superiority – We contribute to society by helping to solve social issues with our superior technologies and quality.

A conversation with Andrea Wolff, Director of Service Logistics at XenoTech (XT), reveals how those principles are put into practice in the workplace.

Andrea has been with XT for over 20 years, starting in the lab and working her way up through various departments and roles. She’s been in her current position for over two years – overseeing project management, streamlining processes and ensuring that deliverables are on time and of the highest quality.

Process improvement is ongoing at XT, and the company is constantly innovating. “We work on R&D, attend global meetings and get guidance from our scientific advisory board,” Andrea reports. It’s how XT stays on top of industry advances.

“Ultimately our work is to make sure people have safe drugs that improve their lives. We’re helping to get those drugs on the market and take pride in doing the best type of study for our client.”

Service, Speed and Superiority are at the core of XT’s standards for excellence in the workplace. Andrea personally went through Kaizen training and believes these principles play a role in everything she does on the job.

“I’m in charge of the end product, so I have to ensure it’s the highest quality and meets client needs. I’m also responsible for project management and timelines – so speed is key.”

“And service means being transparent,” Andrea explains, “making sure we communicate any issues and keep our clients aware of everything.”

The culture at XT is a clear reflection of the 3S Principles. “We take pride in what we do,” says Andrea. “In some companies, speed is most important, and that can cause stress and mistakes. But the 3S Principles teach us to balance speed with quality.”

The real value of the 3S Principles is that they help staff focus on what’s important – not just to XT but to clients. Before taking on a new project the staff discusses whether they can truly deliver, making sure they have enough manpower and that other studies won’t be compromised.

“XenoTech cares about making the world a better place,” says Andrea. That’s evidenced not only through their work but through philanthropy. The company holds blood drives several times a year, engages in community projects for disaster relief, has an Angel Tree for the holidays, and a host of other service endeavors. “It’s nice to be able to reach out and help other people and know you’re making a difference.”

The management at XT cares about people as well as about the work they do. According to Andrea, “it’s all about first-class quality and integrity.”
