Ex Vivo CYP and UGT Enzyme Induction

Overview

Sekisui XenoTech's Ex vivo CYP and UGT induction studies are specialized for monkey, dog, rat and mouse microsomes from liver tissue (other tissue is also available).

These studies can provide valuable information on the investigation of a drug candidate. Not only are these types of induction studies cost-effective, they can provide the following information to your investigation:
  • Which prototypical CYP or UGT inducers the drug candidate resembles
  • Epigenetic tumor formation
  • Which species most closely resemebles human

Our studies can be designed to meet the needs of the client as recognized by the FDA and other regulatory agencies. Sekisui XenoTech maintains a selection of suitable positive controls from species specific liver microsomes that have been extensively characterized over several years. Additionally, we consult our historical control values acquired over several years to provide the highest level of confidence in our assessment of your compound. We are able to assess CYP and UGT enzymes as well as levels of immunoreactive protein by Western immunoblotting and qRT-PCR analysis.

We offer the following options to design your study:
  • Validated analytical methods for several species (CYP1A, 2B, 2E, 3A, 4A and non-specific UGT)
  • Non-validated specific UGT assays (UGT1A1/6 and UGT2B2)
  • Ability to analyze single sample or pooled sample sizes
  • Statistical analysis (if sample size is sufficient)
  • Multiple positive controls (prototypical inducers) for various species
  • Microsomal based activity assays
  • Multiple CYP and UGT mRNA expression endpoints and other comercially available probes for mRNA expression endpoints
  • non-GLP or GLP
  • Full submission quality study report
